Today’s Picks

CANNABIS: Trump posted a video on socials over the weekend pushing the medical benefits of “hemp derived CBD” for seniors. I tried previously with MSOS ETF for a decent win. Avoided individual names. However after trawling some names CRON looks really good. By far the best looking name. Followed by HITI, SNDL, VFF. TLRY is probably the most well known name. There are no individual catalysts on these names. You’re essentially getting long an industry. If it does manage to go on a run then you will eventually see the ‘‘Winners and Losers’’ emerge from whatever regulatory changes occur (if any).

X-Ray CRON: Industry Group: Drug Manufacturers - Specialty & Generic, Market Cap: 1.01B, Float: 197.90M Short Interest 1.47%, Days to Cover: 1.23, Exchange: NASDAQ

The Week Ahead

Very small earnings week this week. Some highlights below. A mix of big names and a few others with reasonable charts to monitor. NKE and CCL the most well known of the week. The main economic events are US JOLTS Tuesday at 10am ET, US Manufacturing ISM Wednesday @ 10am ET, Jobs Report Friday @ 8:30am ET & ISM Services @ 10AM ET

FRMI will IPO on Wednesday. Approx valuation of $13b. Data Center & Energy Real Estate. Former Gov Rick Perry is involved.

TSLA Q3 Deliveries expected Thursday.

Cannabis - Trump mentioned positive uses for CBD over the weekend in a video. Cannabis stocks have been toying with being in play for the past few months. We have yet to see a ‘‘real’’ move though. Theme Watchlist

Monday 29th September - Seeing a nice gap up this morning. No real news to back that up so will be slightly cautious today with new positions. An early fade and gap fill isn’t out of the question.

Theme Watch

We saw a well needed breather in a lot of Themes last week. It remains to be seen whether this is a larger rotation or just a pause for the speculative market drives higher. You can see from my tracker above that we had consistent outperformance in Commodities/Rare Earths - Lithium, Platinum, Silver, Gold, Critical Minerals and Oil & Gas Emerging. Many of the Silver & Gold names are now extended. I need to do some further work on my Oil & Gas watchlists to make them more comprehensive and nuanced. If anyone has good lists or insight feel free to share.

Biotech’s are flying also but I don’t think there is value in tracking stocks as a theme considering it’s based so much on Binary outcomes. It’s worth noting the strong follow through.

Sources & Services I Use in my Trading:

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
