Situational Awareness

Market Condition: Weak Market, Moving to Downside, Elevated VIX

Commentary: Well….that wasn’t a great ending to the week. I have continuously been optimistic about this earnings season but that optimism is fading rapidly. The market is breaking down in a broad manner. In the next few days we are likely to see a bounce. Several indicators flashed green at end of day on Friday for short term bounce. This is likely to occur Monday or Tuesday. I think this will be short lived or at least at the moment that is how I am preparing. For me this means little to no activity. Just going through the daily process as normal but very unlikely to take any catalyst trades. I will look to trade an oversold bounce if that occurs using TQQQ, SPXL or SOXL.

While nobody knows what may happen here I would brace yourself for at least two to three months (if we’re lucky!) of churn. My opinion may be different by next week but that’s how I’m looking at it currently. No Macro of note for this week. I do think that the US Midterms are potentially an important watershed moment for the markets. Forget about analyzing them and the outcomes. Just keep the date in mind and watch out for any character change that may occur after November 3rd.

Earnings kicks off properly this week. Some major tech earnings in NFLX, SPCX, META and TSLA. These are real market movers and I think in the case of SPCX and META the market is going to be looking closely at CAPEX. With META’s past history I think Zuckerberg is more than capable of hitting the market with a massive capital raise and/or CAPEX increase. Same for SPCX.

There are a couple of okay charts highlighted below but really nothing that has me remotely excited. One theme I am watching is Copper stocks. These are setting up consistently and trading in sync. Potential for a large breakout on these stocks. Oil and Gas is also strong. Neither of these are generally good omens for the broader market.

Nothing much else to discuss. Don’t force things. Don’t short into the hole. Sit back and watch is play out and be refreshed for when the lights are green for us again. Because they will be just as sure as the sun rises in the morning.
