Highlights: Cautious approach on the Bounce

The Week Ahead
Another earnings week ahead. I’m approaching the coming week with caution. We had a nice bullish reversal look on Friday however it remains to be seen if we get much follow through on that and most importantly for me the catalysts I’m tracking are not seeing a lot of follow through. I am currently de-risking on day one in all names. I struggle to sit on my hands so by doing this I stay connected with the market ready to adjust my controls when the market is more in favor of swings.
It looks like the Government Shutdown might be resolved by tomorrow. I don’t know how the market will react to that but I’d imagine it may cause some volatility if there is drama around it. I’ve also read that the decision on FED Powell’s replacement could be imminent. This is likely to have a market impact. Lot’s of FED Speakers this week but I don’t think they are particularly important.
In terms of earnings I think CRWV on Monday night is important for the AI narrative and NBIS on Tuesday morning. There is also CRCL on Wednesday morning. CSCO After the close and AMAT on Thursday evening. None of these are things I’m particularly looking to trade but I think they will have a market impact. Plenty of solid charts this week. Around 100 but many of them are low volume stocks.
A cautious approach this week makes sense to me.
Theme Watch

Difficult to draw much from anything this week in terms of themes. A lot of names had drawdowns this week and bullish reversals on Friday. The week and month has had some strength in defensive names and solar is notable but it really remains to be seen whether there is anything actionable in that.
Earnings Highlights
Here is a filtered list of stocks that I think could potentially be tradable if their earnings are strong - Trading View Earnings Highlights. This is a broad stroke list of 100 names. These weeks are difficult to narrow down too much but it helps a lot to loosely filter at the weekend. Seeing a lot of Biotech/Healthcare related names that have potential. The list is too big this week to write in the newsletter.
Next weeks full earnings watchlist on TradingView can be accessed here.

Delayed Reaction Watchlist:
I’ve cleaned this list up to reset it to make it more actionable. In future I’ll be limiting this list to only really high conviction catalysts as well as delayed reactions in the few days after initial move. The more I look at delayed reactions the more it’s a waste of time for me to track things for too long. I really only want to be taking Day 2 and Day 3 max on most catalysts and possibly a more delayed entry on something I feel has very big potential. Keeping the universe small is important and this watchlist has grown too long.
I’m hopeful that it will be more useful for others to track also.
The new sections I’m using are:
Strong Catalysts : Stocks that I feel have the strongest catalysts/themes
Most Recent : The catalysts I’m tracking in the last few days that may offer Day 2,3,4 entries
Stocks of Notable Interest : On these I’m waiting for a catalyst that may or may not occur.
This may adjust over time. I’m always looking to improve my process and refine it.

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
