Today’s Picks
1) Sunpower Inc. (SPWR)
X-Ray SPWR: Industry Group: Solar, Market Cap: 145.44M, Float: 52.59M Short Interest 22.10%, Days to Cover: 10.82, Exchange: NASDAQ
Turnaround Story in an improving theme. Operating Income swing positive. Revenue Growth 15% YoY. Record Op Profits. Margins Improving. Headcount < 75%. Company is cash strapped so will raise equity soon. High Short interest and DTC. I think this may not be one that goes at the open. A lot of squeezes like this tend to go a few hours after the open. Nice base.
2) Branch Out Foods (BOF)
X-Ray BOF: Industry Group: Packaged Foods, Market Cap: 24.68M, Float: 7.21M Short Interest 1.46%, Days to Cover: 0.48, Exchange: NASDAQ
Revs 93% YoY. Improved liquidity, Improved GMs, Strategic progress with partnerships with US Retailers. Company narrative portraying a shift from development into operational and commercial scale up. Path to profitability in sight. Recent IPO, Good Chart. Quite speculative but the right environment for something like this to run.
Honorable Mention
NERV: Big Private placement for Phase 3 Schizophrenia Drug Trial. $200m Private placement indicates large institutional interest in the trials. Has made a huge move already so may not have more room in the tank today but worth watching. These financing deals can be difficult to decipher but hard to ignore the volume and the move.
X-Ray NERV: Industry Group: Biotechnology, Market Cap: 18.60M, Float: 5.44M Short Interest 0.72%, Days to Cover: 0.17, Exchange: NASDAQ
EOSE: Not neglected at all however announced 3 deals/partnerships today. They look strong. Stock is in theme (batteries) and has a 25% pullback along with High Short Interest. I’ll be watching it but it is a bit late in the cycle for it to be a main pick today. Potential that this is the signal for a move to more commercial enterprise level.
X-Ray EOSE: Industry Group: Electrical Equipment & Parts, Market Cap: 4.19B, Float: 269.12M Short Interest 30.15%, Days to Cover: 4.63, Exchange: NASDAQ
Market Awareness
Gold getting hammered this morning. Market is going to open red it seems. Cautious at the open but hard not to be bullish overall. Positions working well yesterday. No panic if we have a red day today. Stick to the plan.

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
