Market Awareness
No picks that are worth publishing today. The market is not great as is obvious. There are several narratives floating around. Government Shutdown, China Relations and now Regional Bank delinquencies.
The key here is to do as little as possible. Stick to your rules. Take this example:
October 10th you panicked sold everything you’d been holding for weeks and went short. You got punished hard on Monday and then FOMO’d into the rally only to get punished again Thursday. You sold everything again. Today we rally and you FOMO back in.
This is the textbook example of being chopped up. I have traded UVIX twice in the past week which has worked well against the drawdown. I closed the trade from yesterday first thing this morning. I’m incurring a drawdown but I’m sticking to my rules. Trimming is fine into strength and taking smaller positions is fine. Or getting out and sitting out is fine. But if you are reacting every single day to the movements of the market during a time like this you’ll get destroyed.
Ignore what Market Wizards are tweeting. Have your plan and stick to it. If that means your in cash then great. If that means taking smaller size on new positions then great. If it means doing nothing at all and waiting to see if your stops get hit then great.
Just don’t participate in cutting yourself to pieces…
Enjoy the Weekend and stay safe out there!

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
