Welcome to today's Stocks in Play report. Below are the key stocks to watch, along with brief x-ray and analysis.

I use Benzinga Pro (Essential) for 90% of my research each day. I have recently subscribed to a LIFETIME subscription for $1650. This is incredible value. If this is something you’d be interested in then shoot me an email ([email protected]) and I’ll put you in touch with the Rep to receive the agreed price. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
1) MP Materials (MP) (Rating: A, Multi-Day)
X-Ray: Industry Group: Other Industrial Metals & Mining, Market Cap: 7.93B, Float: 119.66M Short Interest 25.81%, Days to Cover: 2.67, Exchange: NYSE
Catalyst: I was away last week when this one got it’s DoD investment. I considered it a clear EP catalyst at the time. This morning AAPL invested $500m into the company to secure production of Magnets. Rare Earth minerals, US Policy of reducing reliance on China etc. This one is likely to run for several weeks and initiate a strong theme in Rare Earths. Today is technically a delayed reaction but I think this is one to continue to watch for the foreseeable.
Honorable Mention to:
Semiconductors - The obvious news over night is the lifting of restrictions for NVDA to sell chips into China. NVDA reacted with a 5% move to the upside. It’s difficult for me to get excited about NVDA here after such a run although it will likely give some good opportunities intraday. A good looking sympathy play here in my opinion is SMCI. Nice Daily chart and high ADR. This move also signals a further thawing of China & US relations. I like KC as an alternative play from the China side. This has been an AI market leader and is looking strong this morning.
X-Ray NVDA: Industry Group: Semiconductors, Market Cap: 4003.31B, Float: 23.41B Short Interest 1.04%, Days to Cover: 1.15, Exchange: NASDAQ
X-Ray SMCI: Industry Group: Computer Hardware, Market Cap: 29.68B, Float: 512.67M Short Interest 18.58%, Days to Cover: 2.09, Exchange: NASDAQ
X-Ray KC: Industry Group: Software - Application, Market Cap: 3.45B, Float: 271.74M Short Interest 3.95%, Days to Cover: 4.59, Exchange: NASDAQ
TTD : Trade Desk added to S&P500 replacing ANSS (Buyout). Generally I don’t like Index inclusions for SIPs but this is an interesting one as I consider it a secondary catalyst to the positive May earnings gap. The stock had a huge decline in 2025. It has consolidated very tightly since the May earnings gap which I featured in this newsletter. We are right into a fast zone here with plenty of room until $110. Note downward sloping 200MA likely to prove to be resistance today at $92.50.
X-Ray TTD: Industry Group: Advertising Agencies, Market Cap: 37.07B, Float: 445.60M Short Interest 5.24%, Days to Cover: 2.72, Exchange: NASDAQ
Delayed Reaction Watchlists:
Market Awareness
Some nice catalysts today. CPI seems to be fine and the overall market is continuing to chugg along. It’s difficult to be bearish here and if anything it looks like we’re going to break higher.
Concentrating on the individual names that are in the mainstream news today rather than the small caps/Biotechs. Usually on these sorts of days where there is a lot of big news I find that keeping things simple is the best route.

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
