Yesterday In Review

Mixed follow through yesterday on names that were day two and three of Breakouts. I feel like the quality easy money setups still aren’t there. Regardless it’s a bull market. I took a loss on SMXT after a 1min ORB entry. In hindsight (which is 20-20) I was probably a bit eager but it coincided with a push through $1.20 which I liked. I took the U&R of $160 of CVX which gave me a nice singles return. I trimmed some during the day as the size was pretty big. Holding RDDT from Friday (Breakout) and UAA from December (Large Insider Buy) which I trimmed pre market this morning into the 200MA and top of the Gap Down. Good Breakout traders probably got quite long on Friday. I’m not a good breakout trader so I feel a bit under exposed at the moment but have to be patient and wait for the setups to hit that suit me.

Market Awareness

Tight day yesterday on indices. Still in range. Not much to say but see the chart below. Not a prediction more of a recognition that we can easily stay rangebound for another month or two here and still be bullish overall. Monitoring the VIX. Really top setups (chart wise) are still not abundant in my opinion. Worth noting though that leading themes and stocks will break strongly before the index. I likely won’t be at my computer today at the open as I have an appointment for my child. so unlikely I’ll be able to take trades. Just doing the routine.

Today’s Picks

ALMS: Alumis reported positive Phase 3 topline results for envudeucitinib, a next-generation oral TYK2 inhibitor, in moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. Both ONWARD1 and ONWARD2 trials (n=1,700+ total) met all primary and secondary endpoints with high statistical significance (p<0.0001). "Transform the treatment landscape" (CEO Martin Babler). Strong Data. Chart not perfect but on weekly Monthly it’s essentially an IPO Breakout. Has moved already Pre Market over 100% so caution.

X-Ray ALMS: Industry Group: Biotechnology, Market Cap: 867.51M, Float: 60.67M Short Interest 6.39%, Days to Cover: 3.76, Exchange: NASDAQ

ZETA: Zeta Global announced a strategic collaboration with OpenAI at CES 2026 to power its Athena AI marketing agent. OpenAI models will support Athena's conversational intelligence and agentic applications, with Zeta gaining early access to new OpenAI models and features. The company is expanding beta access for Athena's first two agentic applications—Insights (analytics) and Advisor (campaign optimization)—following "unprecedented early demand." TKO Group (UFC/WWE) is cited as an early access customer seeing positive results. Zeta plans to launch Athena to all customers by end of Q1 2026. Agentic AI Theme. Main thing that has me here is that I like the weekly and daily chart. Not showing the power I’d like so far pre market but worth monitoring. Could have a sustained move if it can go today especially with lots of conferences coming up pushing these AI Use case narratives.

X-Ray ZETA: Industry Group: Software - Infrastructure, Market Cap: 5.33B, Float: 203.67M Short Interest 11.24%, Days to Cover: 3.18, Exchange: NYSE

AEVA: Aeva Technologies (NASDAQ: AEVA) announced Aeva Omni at CES 2026—a new short-range 4D LiDAR sensor with 360° horizontal and 90° vertical field of view, designed for autonomous vehicles, robotics, drones, defense, warehouse automation, and smart infrastructure. In theme. I don’t particularly like the chart so am cautious on a fade on this one but must take note after the NVDA Event yesterday pushing Self Driving Cars and Robotics hard. This is in theme and a new product for AVEA. High Short Interest.

X-Ray AEVA: Industry Group: Software - Infrastructure, Market Cap: 786.45M, Float: 38.72M Short Interest 25.46%, Days to Cover: 4.69, Exchange: NASDAQ

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
