Yesterday In Review

Yesterday I took two trades. MDB & CRDO. As mentioned in the newsletter I preferred MDB catalyst and chart. I took the $400 U&R so got really good Risk on it and size. This is my preferred entry (when it works). With CRDO I was more cautious but I still took the trade on the 1 min ORB which was around $196. This gave about a $10 stop meaning the size was substantially smaller than MDB (Account risk was same). Stops at LOD. I didn’t trim either as with fundamental catalysts like this I’m very much looking for the swings. Disappointing action but not a total shock. I’m still getting good traction on other positions but tech is not ready. Both of these offered proper entries for me so regardless of them failing I would not consider it a mistake in taking them. I cut CRDO near end of day for a loss. Cut MDB size in half. Both are likely good candidates to watch for delayed moves and I have added to watchlist.

Market Awareness

Nothing of real note yesterday. Individual tech stocks faded. Retailers - Clothing, Apparel, Home Furnishings etc. VIX still not showing any signs of life. Some indicators I have have flipped to healthy market but I still think we’re likely to see rangebound action for the foreseeable. Select names are working. Slower movers. MRVL had a nice reversal last night, while there is no setup there for me it’s worth monitoring to see if it falters or follows through and carry’s some tech names with it. SNOW & CRM after the close will carry weight also.

Patient in short term, bullish medium term. Patience essential here to not get chopped up. Today’s pick is likely no trade or day trade for me.

Today’s Picks

CAPR: Capricor announced definitive positive topline results from HOPE-3, a pivotal Phase 3 trial (n=106) evaluating Deramiocel, an allogeneic cell therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study met its primary endpoint (Performance of Upper Limb v2.0) with 54% slowing of skeletal muscle progression (p=0.029) and the key secondary cardiac endpoint (LVEF preservation) with 91% slowing of cardiac decline (p=0.041). All type 1 error-controlled secondary endpoints achieved statistical significance.

Chart isn’t my favorite but for sure this is going to be in play today. Rather than a flat base it’s a downward trendline from previous move. This thing can go insane today. All I’ll say is Martin Shkreli is pushing the short side of this hard on Social media. Does that matter? I’m not sure. I’ll still be watching this for a trade but really exercise SUPER caution with this as it will likely be a wild stock.

High Short Interest, Currently halted as of writing. Not sure what it opens at.

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
