TLDR Stocks in Play: HIMS, CCK, SEI
Welcome to today's Stocks in Play report. Below are the key stocks to watch, along with brief x-ray and analysis.
If you find this Newsletter helpful and ever want to say thank you then feel free to Buy Me a Coffee. It’ll inspire me to work faster….
1) Hims & Hers (HIMS) (Rating: B+, Multi-Day)
Industry Group: Medical & Nursing, Market Cap: $8.64b, Float: 180m, Short Interest: 33%, Days to Cover: 2.35, Exchange: NYSE
Catalyst: Story/Cult Stock. Announced ‘‘Long Term partnership with NVO to sell Wegovy on Hims & Hers platform’’. High short interest, Nice base on the stock. Moving on heavy volume pre market. Several key levels to work against today. 40% Pre Market means I’ll be looking for pullback opportunities. Long term I think this is probably low margin business for the company but it has a big retail following so can run ridiculously hard. I also think this is coming from the HIMS side rather than NVO. LFMD have announced the same thing today. This is not something exclusive. Expect a lot of volatility in this. I’d like $35 or $33.60 pullback if possible.
2) Crown Holdings (CCK) (Rating: B+, Multi-Day)
Industry Group: Containers & Packaging, Market Cap: $10.64b, Float: 117m, Short Interest: 5%, Days to Cover: 4.2, Exchange: NYSE
Catalyst: Large Beat on EPS ($1.67 vs est. $1.23) +63.7% YoY, Beat on Revs (+3.7% YoY), Large beat on Operating Margins, Raised full year EPS Guide. This is a big win for cost control and margins. All Key Markets performing strongly including Brazil & EU, Slower moving stock but nice chart with clear pivot at $90.
Honorable Mention to: SEI - O&G Services Stock, Strong Beat on EPS & Revs, Revs Growing 80% YoY, Also signed Joint Venture with Stateline Power LLC. Low Float (25m), 21% Short Interest, 3.5 Days to Cover. Low volume pre market so may not work at all.
EAT - Strong earnings on high expectations. Stock hit -10% Pre Market. To me there is an overreaction here and is a solid bounce candidate today.
FOUR - Relatively Solid Earnings, though profitability dipped. High Short Interest and relatively low float. Last on my list but have it there on squeeze watch.
Market Awareness
Yesterday was a historically low volume day. Not sure what that means but noting today we have a lot of talk from Bessent this morning and Lutnick is expected at 2pm on one of the Market News shows. I expect volatility and a pullback today. A gap down is healthy and we can watch to see if that dip gets bought in true bull market style.
Concentrating on individual names and watching the VIX for an abnormal spike as a warning signal to ease off on new trades. Conservative trades and hitting singles today is the name of the game.

PS: There are many ways to trade stocks in play. It does not have to be the one that keeps going straight up and sometimes it doesn’t even have to be day one of the catalyst. Everyone must find a setup, timeframe and method that works for them. This list is supposed to educate on the criteria I use and the methods in which I find Stocks in Play. Yours may differ and that is completely okay.
