Stocks in Play - 12th March 2026
Today in Focus: TLYS, LWLG, HIMX
Trading Services I Use in my Trading:
StockAnalysis.com - I’ve been using Stock Analysis as an affordable but reliable method of looking at New and Upcoming IPOs, Earnings Calendars and most notably KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Stock Analysis allows you to view the KPIs for many companies with up to date metrics and segments that you can cross reference against Earnings Results. This is incredibly important when understanding what metrics move a stock. At $65 per year it’s a no brainer. They’ve given me a discount code if you use IRISHBORNINVESTOR they will give you another 10% Off.
Situational Awareness
Market Condition: Another inside day type candle, Closed above 20EMA. VIX still alive. Trader sentiment starting to get bullish now.
Commentary: Traders on X are starting to get bullish now because of the fabled ‘‘Follow Through Day’’ on the horizon. Which gives me caution. I preferred when they were all scared. Gap down this morning. We’re obviously looking for a strong red to green or else it’s probably another trip back to the bottom of the established range since February.
Not to get too into the macro side of things but the headlines and narrative are pushing the Strait of Hormuz closures and oil prices etc. I think that the market is currently anticipating a Trump TACO event which is why we’re holding up here despite the VIX spikes. What actually happens remains to be seen. Note that the EU are now pricing in a Rate hike which isn’t good for the medium term inflation narrative. For now though we concentrate on the stocks.

LWLG & HIMX: LWLG - Tower Semi Partnership, HIMX - Citrini Pick Acknowledgment
Key Metrics LWLG: Industry Group: Specialty Chemicals, Market Cap: 893.39M, Float: 143.11M, Short Interest: 8.66%, Days to Cover: 5.35, Sales Y/Y TTM: -11.12%, EPS Y/Y TTM: 11.81%, Earnings: Mar 05 BMO, Exchange: NASDAQ
Key Metrics HIMX: Industry Group: Semiconductors, Market Cap: 2.17B, Float: 174.40M, Short Interest: 1.77%, Days to Cover: 2.83, Sales Y/Y TTM: -8.01%, EPS Y/Y TTM: -44.76%, Earnings: Feb 12 BMO, Exchange: NASDAQ
Catalyst: Lightwave Logic announced a development agreement with Tower Semiconductor to integrate LWLG's electro-optic (EO) polymer modulator technology into Tower's PH18 silicon photonics platform. The collaboration aims to incorporate LWLG's modulator reference designs (targeting 110GHz+ bandwidth) into Tower's process design kit (PDK), enabling Tower's customers to design compact, high-speed optical modulators for 400G per lane applications.
No financials disclosed. Photonics very much in theme. This is my catalyst pick. I like the chart. Now to mention HIMX which is subject to a ‘‘long report’’ from the Research Firm/Substack Writer Citrini. A long call much like a short call is not a catalyst to me from one of these firms but back in 2020 these types of retail writers could really move stocks (Ophir Gottlieb, Beth Kindig etc.). Citrini was the writer behind the AI is the end of the world viral post recently. The fact he has announced the position and the thesis today puts this entire sector in play but HIMX doesn’t have a defined catalyst other than that. I think both can work though.
TLYS: Strong Earnings - Turnaround Catalyst
Key Metrics: Industry Group: Apparel Retail, Market Cap: 49.67M, Float: 22.39M, Short Interest: 3.13%, Days to Cover: 11.96, Sales Y/Y TTM: -8.31%, EPS Y/Y TTM: 36.10%, Earnings: Mar 11 AMC, Exchange: NASDAQ
Catalyst: First profitable Q4 since FY2021. Revenue and EPS beat consensus by wide margins. Comp acceleration to +10.1% on a smaller store base demonstrates genuine demand recovery, not store-count-driven. Gross margin expanded 720 bps YoY on structural inventory discipline. Q1 guidance blew past Street expectations by ~14.6% on revenue. Seven consecutive months of positive comps with February at +20.1% signals durable momentum.
Accelerating momentum. Solid Daily Chart, Can move.
CEO Nate Smith framing: "first profitable fourth quarter since fiscal 2021," "seven consecutive months of comparable net sales growth," February comp at 20%, "strong start to fiscal 2026.
